0 India vs Leicestershire: India vs Leicestershire practice match ended in a draw

The practice match between India and Leicestershire has ended in a draw. On Sunday (26 June) on the fourth day of the match, Leicestershire had to score 367 runs to win. He scored 219 runs for four wickets. After 66 overs, both the captains agreed on a draw.

Shubman Gill scored the most runs for Leicestershire in the second innings. He played an innings of 62 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets for India. Ashwin has proved his fitness after recovering from Corona. He showed his mettle in the bowling of 11 overs.

India had scored 246 for eight in the first innings. After this, Leicestershire were bundled out for 244 runs in the first innings. India declared their second innings at 364 for seven. In this way Leicestershire got a target of 367 runs to win.

Team India will now go to Edgbaston. There Team India will play the fifth Test match from July 1 to 5. Team India went on a tour of England in August-September last year. Then after four Tests, the Indian team was ahead 2-1. The fifth match could not be played due to coronavirus.

Ashwin bowls Shubman Gill:

In the second innings, Shubman Gill scored 62 runs off 77 balls. He was clean bowled by Ashwin. Ashwin was not playing in this match due to Kovid-19, but he was given a chance to practice on the last day.

After that Samuel Evans was dismissed for 26 runs off 82 balls. He was stumped by Ashwin at the hands of Sreekar Bharat. Hasan Azad scored 12 runs off Shardul Thakur’s delivery.

Hanuma Vihari did not bat:

Hanuma Vihari departed after scoring 26 off 86 balls. He hit three fours and a six in his innings. Ravindra Jadeja got Vihari caught by Srikar Bharat. Hanuma also came out to bat for the Indian team. He was given a chance to practice again, but could not take advantage of it.

Kohli had scored a half-century:

Former captain Virat Kohli scored 67 runs in the second innings for India. Shreyas Iyer made 62 and Ravindra Jadeja scored 56 not out. Sreekar Bharat scored 43, Shubman Gill scored 38, Shardul Thakur scored 28, Cheteshwar Pujara scored 22 and Hanuma Vihari scored 20 runs.

Pujara was in the Leicestershire team, but he also batted for the Indian team for practice. Same happened with Shubman Gill. Gill was in India’s team, but he also opened for Leicestershire in the second innings.
