0 UNSC: Indian Ambassador Ruchira Kamboj said – India is concerned about the status of Zaporizhia nuclear power plant

India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Ruchira Kamboj presented India’s side on the six-month-long conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

“We are constantly monitoring the work being done regarding the safety and security of Ukraine’s nuclear plants. India attaches great importance to this, as any accident involving nuclear plants is a threat to public health and the environment.” could have disastrous consequences.”

Ruchira Kamboj said that

India is concerned about the status of Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). We support ongoing efforts, including those of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to reduce tensions and ensure safety.

Let us tell you that today (August 24) it has been six months since the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Russia launched a conflict against Ukraine on February 24, six months ago today.

Firing near nuclear plant increased the risk of nuclear accident:

Ukraine is constantly targeting Russian soldiers who are present at the power plant in order to free the Zaporizhia nuclear plant from Russian occupation. The risk of a major nuclear accident is increasing due to the continuing two-way firing near the power plant.

The G-7 has appealed to Russia to withdraw troops from the power plant fearing nuclear devastation. On the other hand, the areas near the plant have started emptying due to the fear of accident.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said a few days ago that every Russian soldier in Zaporizhia, who is firing at a power plant or targeting Ukrainian soldiers, is a special target of the Ukrainian army and special forces. It would be impossible for them to escape from here.

The nuclear plant, built on the southern bank of the Dnipro River, is currently in the possession of the Russian military, while the urban area on the other side of the coast is controlled by the Ukrainian military. Ukraine alleges that Russia is bombing urban areas under the guise of a nuclear plant, but the Ukrainian military is unable to respond for fear of a nuclear accident.
