0 Rain Havoc: Heavy devastation due to floods and rains in Himachal, Uttarakhand, 33 killed in five states

In five states of the country, 33 people died due to heavy rains, floods and landslides in 24 hours, while 17 are missing. 22 people have died in Himachal. The maximum destruction occurred in Mandi, Kangra and Chamba. At the same time, four lost their lives in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, four died in Odisha, two in Jammu and Kashmir and one in Jharkhand.

It has been raining heavily in Himachal since Friday night. Manimahesh Yatra has been postponed for two days due to bad weather. 16 people were buried under the debris due to landslides and cloudburst in Mandi. Here 13 people lost their lives. Here 8 people of the same family have died.

At the same time, 31 houses, 60 shops, 26 cowsheds and a bridge collapsed in Thunag due to cloudburst. The couple and their son, who were sleeping in the house, died due to being buried in the debris in Chamba. Traffic came to a standstill on 268 roads in the state. 17 people are missing in Himachal and Uttarakhand.

Pong water level increased, alert in Punjab also:

The water level of Pong Dam has reached 1374.78 feet. Alert has been issued for Kangra in Himachal and Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Mukerian, Dasuha, Jawali, Indora, Nurpur, Fatehpur, Jawali, Talwara, Hajipur and Indora in Punjab. Water can be released from Shah Canal Barrage and Beas.

Himachal: 22 killed

  • The maximum damage was done in Mandi, Kangra and Chamba. 13 killed in Mandi
  • Eight people of the same family died in Mandi
  • Cloud burst in Thunag… 26 cowsheds and a bridge including 31 houses and 60 shops collapsed

Uttarakhand: 4 lives lost

Accident in Jammu and Kashmir too… 2 deaths:

  • The debris of a mountain fell on a house in Tikri block of Udhampur district… the death of Arif (3) and Gani (2 months). saved a child. Three others buried under rubble
  • Udhampur-Pancheri and Mongri road also closed due to landslide
The bodies of the children found wrapped in the mother’s body, the meanings of eight members of the family arose together:

In the village Jhadon of Nachan’s village panchayat Kashan, such a mountain fell in the house of Pradhan Khem Singh that the whole family slept forever. First of all, the wife and two children of Khem Singh’s brother Jhaberam were found dead. People’s eyes became moist as relief workers pulled the bodies of the children wrapped around the mother out of the rubble. After this the bodies of Khem Singh, his wife, two sons and father-in-law were exhumed. Khem Singh’s brother Jhabe Ram had gone to Kullu and his parents had gone to Saraj, so he survived. The meanings of 8 members of the family arose simultaneously.

British era railway bridge collapsed:

In 1929, three pillars of the British built railway bridge at Chakki Khad in Kangra completely collapsed. Hundreds of passengers were stuck hungry and thirsty in the trains since late night due to the closure of three NHs.

Two of the dead were from Noida-Ghaziabad:

Two people from Noida and Ghaziabad were killed when rocks fell on their car near Maipul temple in Theog. Among the dead are Umeshchand Bhati, a resident of Salarpur Sector-81 village in Noida and Pinku, a resident of Kanoli, Ghaziabad. Driver Ravindra Singh and Deepak are injured in the accident.

Advice… tourists should bring weather information:

In view of the heavy rains, the state tourism department has appealed to the tourists to come only after taking the weather information. Tourists present in Himachal have been asked not to go near rivers and streams and leave only after knowing about the roads.

Roads and connectivity of many villages broken in Uttarakhand:

A dozen people have been injured in accidents in Uttarakhand. 12 are missing. Four people were airlifted to safer places. 40 meters of the approach road of the Raipur-Thano bridge on the Saung river got absorbed in the river. Roads and connectivity in many villages have been broken. About 250 roads, including three national highways, have been closed due to debris and rocks. Electricity and water lines were also damaged in the affected areas.
