The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Prem Prakash, a close aide of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, in Jharkhand’s illegal mining case. It is being told that Prem Prakash is a close aide of Chief Minister Hemant Soren and his family friend Amit Agarwal.
On the other hand, ED had recovered two AK-47s, 60 cartridges and two magazines from Prem Prakash’s house late last night. However, later the Ranchi Police issued a press release stating that both the AK-47s were not of Prem Prakash but of two police constables who stayed with him during the night.
Raids continue at around 17 locations in Jharkhand and Bihar:
It is being told that the ED has raided several places after questioning Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s MLA representative Pankaj Mishra in connection with illegal mining and extortion. Search operation is going on at around 17 locations in Jharkhand and Bihar.
Earlier, ED had arrested two more close to CM Soren:
The ED had arrested Pankaj Mishra, a close aide of CM Hemant Soren, his aide Bachchu Yadav in the illegal mining case. Based on the interrogation of both, the ED conducted these raids. The ED had raided 19 locations of Mishra and his associates on July 8. It is alleged that Mishra and others benefitted from mining mafia by taking huge amount and misappropriated this criminal proceeds. The ED had seized Rs 13.32 crore deposited in 50 bank accounts in July raids.
Investigation of criminal income of 100 crores recovered from illegal mining:
The ED is also probing the criminal proceeds of Rs 100 crore recovered from illegal mining in Jharkhand. The ED collected several evidences during the raids. Apart from this, people’s statements, digital evidence and documents were also seized. These suggest that the seized cash or bank balances were obtained from illegal mining. The ED is probing money laundering in the illegal mining going on in and around Sahibganj on a large scale.
