For the first time, a case of local spread of Marburg virus infection has been reported in Ghana. Confirming this, the World Health Organization (WHO) has described it as the first case of Marburg virus in Ghana.
Meanwhile, according to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the two patients were admitted to the same hospital in the country’s southern region of Ashanti at different times. He could not be saved and has already died due to symptoms like diarrhoea, fever and vomiting. Both patients were male. The age of one patient was 24 years and the age of one patient was 51 years. 98 people who came in contact with him have been quarantined.
The World Health Organization says Ghana is the second West African country to have a case of Marburg virus. Earlier in September last year, a case of this virus was reported in Guinea. Cases related to this virus have also been registered in some other countries of Africa. These countries include countries such as Angola, Congo, Kenya, South Africa and Uganda. The first case of this virus was reported in 1967.
Virus as dangerous as Ebola:
According to reports, the Marburg virus is as dangerous as the Ebola virus that devastated Africa some time ago. Due to this, blood starts coming out of the body during fever. This virus has also come from animals to humans. There is currently no vaccine available to treat Marburg.
Like coronavirus, this virus is also spread by bats. The virus first reaches the fluid cells of the body and then engulfs the entire skin. Due to this virus, bleeding, fever and other such symptoms are seen. These symptoms are very similar to Ebola. In Ebola also, the patient had a very high fever, restlessness and headache. Symptoms of bleeding were also observed within seven days in many patients. The death rate in Ebola also increased from 24 percent to 88 percent.
