Nearly half of voters who support the ruling Conservative Party in Britain believe that Indian-origin politician and former finance minister Rishi Sunak would make a good prime minister. Opinion poll Sunak has been told ahead in the race for the post of PM. More than 4,400 people took part in this latest survey by JL Partners.
According to a report in The Sunday Telegraph, most of the people in this latest poll are supporters of the ruling Conservative Party. The party is currently represented by caretaker Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Recently, Johnson told the leaders of his party that if you want, support anyone, but do not support Rishi Sunak.
Let us tell you that 48 percent of those who supported the Conservative Party in the 2019 general election believe that Sunak, a British citizen of Indian origin, would make a good prime minister.
Johnson in support of Liz Truss:
This is the first survey in which Foreign Minister Liz Truss has been placed second in the race for the post of Prime Minister. A source said Johnson wanted to support Secretary of State Liz Truss. While Boris Johnson and his camp are running a secret campaign to prevent Rishi Sunak from being elected as PM.
Rishi Sunak was also in the forefront in the third round:
Rishi Sunak has also been at the fore in the third round of voting for the post of Prime Minister in Britain. He won the support of 115 MPs. On the other hand, Tom Tugendhat could not get the required votes and was out of the race. Now only four candidates are left in the race for the post of Prime Minister in Britain.
Indian-origin Rishi Sunak secured 101 votes in the second round of voting. He has increased his support to 115. Second-placed Penny Mordont got 82 votes, compared to 83 votes in the previous poll. Foreign Minister Liz Truss came third with 71 votes. He got 64 votes in the second round of voting. Cami Bedenot took fourth place with 58 votes. He has increased his votes. The next round of voting will be held on Tuesday.
After this, only two candidates will be in the fray in the voting to be held on Thursday. The decision between them will be made by the Conservative Party’s 1,60,000 voters.
