0 CWG 2022 IND-W vs PAK-W T20: Indian women beat Pakistan by 8 wickets, Smriti Mandhana scored a half-century

The Indian women’s cricket team registered its first win in the Commonwealth Games on Sunday (July 31). They defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in their second match of Group A. With this win, Team India has reached the top of the points table. They have two points from two matches with one win and one loss. Along with India, Australia and Barbados also have two points each, but Team India is better in net run rate.

The match was reduced to 18 overs due to rain. Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof won the toss and decided to bat first. His decision proved to be wrong. The entire team of Pakistan was reduced to 99 runs in 18 overs. India easily chased down the target of 100 runs. He won the match by scoring 102 for two in 11.4 overs.

Smriti Mandhana scored a brilliant half-century:

Chasing the target of 100 runs, the Indian team got off to a great start. Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma put on 61 runs for the first wicket in 5.5 overs. Shefali returned to the pavilion after scoring 16 runs off nine balls. He hit two fours and a six. Even after the dismissal of Shefali, Smriti continued to bat vigorously. He completed his half-century in the eighth over by hitting a six off Tuba Hasan’s third ball.

Meghna along with Mandhana took the team closer to victory:

After the fall of one wicket, S. Meghna and Smriti Mandhana did not give any chance to Pakistan. Meghna batted cautiously. At the same time, Smriti was scoring runs in a fast fashion. Both shared 33 runs for the second wicket. India got the second blow in the 11th over. Omaima Sohail S. Clean bowled to Meghna. Meghna scored 14 runs in 16 balls. During this, two fours came off his bat.

Mandhana ends the match with a four:

Jemima Rodriguez landed on the crease after Meghna. Mandhana and Rodriguez ended the match together. On the fourth ball of the 12th over, Mandhana made the match for India by hitting a four. She remained unbeaten on 63 off 42 balls. He hit eight fours and three sixes. Mandhana’s strike rate was 150. Rodriguez remained unbeaten on two runs off three balls.

Most runs scored by Muniba for Pakistan:

None of the Pakistani batsmen could score a half-century. Muneeba Ali scored the highest 32 runs. Alia Riaz contributed 18 and skipper Bismah Maroof contributed 17 runs. Omaima Sohail and Ayesha Naseem scored 10 each. Sneh Rana and Radha Yadav took two wickets each for India. Renuka Singh, Meghna Singh and Shefali Verma got one success each.
