The new scheme will give an opportunity to those youth who want to contribute to the society in a disciplined manner by getting into technical skills. The rank of Agniveer will be different from the existing ranks of the Armed Forces. This will give a youthful face to the Indian armed forces.
According to Lt Gen Anil Puri, Additional Secretary, Department of Military Affairs, the current average age of the forces is 32 years. In 6-7 years it will be 26 years.
Recruitment rallies begin in 90 days:
Agniveers will be trained in various military skills and experience, discipline, physical fitness, leadership qualities, courage and patriotism during their service to the nation. Agniveers, who retire after completing four years of tenure, will have the option of proving their mettle and serving the army further. On the other hand, retired Agniveers will be included in the civil society giving priority to new services, where they can contribute to the process of nation building.
Even if after 4 years:
The youth selected for regularization in the Armed Forces will have to serve for an additional period of minimum 15 years. The extant terms and conditions of service of Junior Commissioned Officers or other ranks will be applicable.
On completion of four years of service, the Agniveers will be provided an opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the Armed Forces as per the requirements and policies of the Army. 25 per cent of the recruits from each elite batch selected on the basis of performance and other qualifications during the period of their four years of service will get a place in the regular cadre.
unique resume:
Lt Gen Anil Puri said, Agniveer will be a future ready soldier. Agniveer will be the young savior of India. An Agniveer’s resume would be very unique after being in the forces for four years. He will stand out in the crowd because of his attitude, skills and time spent with us.
How much will you get Salary:
After four years, the total amount in the fund is 10.04 lakhs.-
On termination of service, Rs 11.71 lakh will be available under the service fund package (total deposit amount including interest, tax free).
Will be able to apply for recruitment in regular cadre:
After four years, one can apply for recruitment as a regular cadre for the next 15 years. Separate rules have been made for this. These jawans will serve in the rank of Junior Commissioned Officer and other ranks. This will enable the Armed Forces to have young, tech-savvy, modern and ready-made soldiers for the needs of the future.
The family will get one crore on being martyred:
If a soldier dies during service, his family will get full insurance cover. About one crore rupees including service fund will be given to the family of the martyr. The full salary of the remaining service of the martyr will also be given to the family. If the jawan becomes handicapped during the service period, then 44 lakhs for 100% disability, 25 lakhs on 75% and 15 lakhs on 50% disability.
Recognition of Agniveer’s skills in graduate admissions: UGC
University Grants Commission Chairman Jagdish Kumar said, the commission will work towards recognizing the skills of Agniveers joining the armed forces under the Agneepath scheme. So that after four years of service, when Agniveer enrolls in graduation, he does not face any difficulty. Jagdish Kumar said, Agniveer will acquire many such skills and for this there should be Agniveer skill certificate.
Voices of protest raised: Former army officers expressed dissatisfaction:
- Major General Satbir Singh (Retd) says this plan is not good. Agneepath Recruitment Scheme has been implemented to reduce the salary and pension of soldiers. This is not true to the tradition, nature, morals and values of the Army.
- There can be a bad effect on the capability and effectiveness of the army. The army will be treated as a tourist organization.
What will the new soldiers do after four years?
- Sadhu Singh, president of Ex-Serviceman Grievance Cell, said, the jawan will get duty of three and a half years. Six months will be spent in training. There is also a leave of nine months.
- There will also be an impact on the duty area of soldiers with permanent jobs. After returning from the army after four years, getting work will not be easy. They will not even get the status of ex-servicemen.
improvised training dangerous:
- The plan has been most opposed by former military officers. Former Director General of Military Operations Lt Gen (Retd) Vinod Bhatia says that the enthusiasm and dutifulness of Indian soldiers is an example for the world. With the end of the regimental system in the new system, the attachment to the name, salt and mark of the soldiers will also end.
- This out-of-the-box decision is only to save money. It ignores the requirements of military operations and the skill requirements of soldiers during war. Without proper training, a soldier can put anyone’s life in danger.
insufficient training period:
Former Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Raj Kadian has questioned the training. They say that the period of training fixed under the scheme is insufficient to produce a skilled soldier. This training will be only temporary
Recruitment will be done through transparent and scientific method:
Army Chief General Manoj Pandey said, the objective of the Agneepath scheme is to create a combat force capable of facing many challenges. Establish a transparent and scientific methodology for the four-year initial recruitment and apply similar criteria for the selection of enrollees. Agniveer will be inducted and integrated into the army in every way.
Women will also be included in the scheme:
Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar said, Agneepath will provide a steady and continuous infusion of youth with unbridled vitality, enthusiasm and new age capabilities. Women will also be included in the Agniveer scheme of the Indian Navy. Agneepath is a visionary step that will bring about a multidimensional transformation in the Navy.
Fresh applications will have to be given in the recruitments whose results are not there.-
Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary said, now all the recruitment will be done under the Agneepath scheme. That is, the youth who have given the Air Force exam and the result has not come, they will have to apply again under the Agneepath scheme. This will disappoint the youth who have been waiting for recruitment for two years or who have passed medical and physical to join the army.
