The central government has launched a big ambitious scheme on Tuesday. The Union Cabinet has approved ‘Agnipath’, an attractive recruitment scheme for Indian youth to serve in the Armed Forces. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, while launching the Agneepath Recruitment Scheme, has described it as a revolutionary reform step.

In this, Agniveer youth will be made capable of self-employment along with military training at an early age. During this time they will also get great salary. Agnipath Scheme: Eligibility Criteria to become Agniveer under Agnipath Scheme?

  • It is necessary for the interested youth to be an Indian citizen.
  • Applicant’s age must be between 17 and a half years to 21 years.
  • The applicant candidate must have passed 10th or 12th.
  • Those who will pass 10th, they will also be given class 12th education during the training.

Agnipath Scheme: What happens after training and four years of service?

  • Training will be given for the first six months of the tenure of four years.
  • After this, there will be a chance to serve the country with the soldiers of the army.
  • After the completion of four years of service of Agniveers, they will be able to apply for regular cadre as per their wish.
  • However, in the regular cadre, a maximum of 25 per cent of the total Agniveers will get a place.
  • The remaining 75 per cent of the Agniveers who have received the training will be sent home after four years of service.
  • The jawans who will be released from service will be made capable of self-employment.
  • Also, priority will be given in the recruitment of armed forces and other government services.
  • Along with this, Agniveer will also get the benefit of ex-servicemen quota.

Agnipath Scheme: Non-contributory life insurance of Rs 48 lakh

In the first year, 46 thousand youths and women will be recruited. Here the number can be more or less every year. This scheme will replace army recruitment rallies. Agniveers will also be provided with a non-contributory life insurance cover of Rs 48 lakh for their tenure in the Indian Armed Forces.

This includes the spirit of patriotism, teamwork, increased physical fitness, loyalty to the country and availability of trained personnel to promote national security in times of external threats, internal threats and natural calamities among the youth.

Agnipath Scheme: Agniveer Corpse Fund will have double benefits like PF

Every Agniveer will get 30 thousand months salary in the year of recruitment. Agniveer’s salary will increase to 33 thousand in the second year, 36 thousand 500 in the third year and 40 thousand rupees in the fourth year.

Of this, 70 percent will be given as salary. The remaining 30 per cent will be deposited in the Agniveer Corps Fund i.e. Service Fund package. The total savings from salary cut in four years would be around Rs 5.02 lakh. The government will also put the same amount in this fund. That is, like PF, it will be a double benefit. Interest will also be paid on this amount.

In four years, both the savings and the contribution of the government together with the salary cut will come to about Rs 11.71 lakh. This amount will be income tax free. In this way, after four years, Agniveer will be given a lump sum of Rs 11.71 lakh from the service fund package in addition to the monthly salary.

Agnipath Scheme: What did Agniveer get in four years?

Agnipath Scheme: Earning 23,43,000

That is, after four years, each Agniveer will get his total salary for four years, which is Rs 11,72,160, in addition to savings and government contribution, a total of Rs 11.71 lakh will get a lump sum. That is, a total of Rs 23 lakh 43 thousand 160 will be earned in four years. Along with this, Agniveer will also get the benefit of ex-servicemen quota.

Agnipath Scheme: If you become martyr or become disabled?

Financial help will also be available if Agniveer is martyred or disabled during the service. If any Agniveer dies, then an amount of more than one crore including service fund will be given along with interest. Apart from this, the salary of the remaining job will also be given.

That is, the total amount will be around 01 crore 23 lakh 43 thousand. Whereas if a jawan becomes disabled in the line of duty, he will be given an amount of up to Rs 44 lakh and service fund along with four years’ salary. That is, a total of Rs 67.43 lakh will be given.

Agnipath Scheme: How will the selection be done in the scheme?

Enrollment for all the three Services will be done through an online centralized system which includes special rallies and campus interviews from recognized technical institutions like Industrial Training Institutes and National Skill Qualification Framework etc. Enrollment will be on ‘All India All Class’ basis and eligible age will be between 17.5 to 21 years.

Agniveer shall fulfill the prescribed medical eligibility conditions for enrollment in the Armed Forces as applicable to the respective categories/functions. The educational qualification of Agniveers for enrollment in different categories will remain the same. For example, the minimum educational qualification for admission in General Duty (GD) soldier is class 10th.
