CBSE New Syllabus: Now students will not get to read the poetry of famous poet Faiz in CBSE’s book. On Thursday, the board released the new syllabus for the session 2022-23.
According to the official syllabus released, in this new syllabus, two poems of Faiz Ahmed Faiz have been removed from the NCERT book of class X. This nazm was being taught to the students for more than a decade.
CBSE New Syllabus: Songs removed from this book
CBSE has removed Faiz’s rhymes from the book ‘Religion, Communalism and Politics – Communalism, Secular State’ of Class X’s Class 10 textbook ‘Democratic Politics II’ in the syllabus released for the session 2022-23. Sections on Religion, Communalism and Politics will continue to be a part of the syllabus content except for the picture on page numbers 46, 48, 49 as per the syllabus.

CBSE New Syllabus: What is the story behind them?
Excerpts from the new CBSE syllabus include two posters and a political cartoon. An excerpt from Faiz’s Nazm was taken in the poster. According to the information, one of these Najm was written by Faiz when he was being chained to a dentist from Lahore jail. At the same time, the second part is taken from a poem written by Faiz during his visit to Dhaka in 1974.
Other changes also occurred:
- The section on the impact of globalization on agriculture has been omitted from the Food Security chapter of Class X.
- The story of the establishment, rise and expansion of Islam was removed from the history book of XI.
- Many changes were also made in the Maths book of class XI.
- Lessons of the Cold War Era and the Non-Aligned Movement from the Political Science of Class XII.
- Variation in a Chapter on the Governance of the Mughal Empire from the Book of XII.
