Barcelona’s Camp Nou Stadium broke its own record for spectator attendance at a women’s football match. On Friday, 91,648 spectators turned up to watch the first leg of the Women’s Champions League semi-final clash between Barcelona and Wolfsburg.
In this match, Barcelona made their way to the UEAF final by winning 5–1. The second leg of the match is to be held in Germany on 30 April. The winning team will take on either Leona or Paris Saint-Germain in Turin on 21 May.
Earlier last month, 91,533 spectators had reached the match between Barcelona and Real Madrid. Even then Barcelona had won.
Earlier, in the final of the 1999 Women’s World Cup, when the US and China teams met at the Rose Bowl Stadium, 90,185 spectators turned up to watch the match. That record was broken after 23 years at Camp Now Stadium last month.
