The largest ever contingent of 8500 players from across the country will participate in the 4th Khelo India Youth Games. The Games will be hosted by Haryana from June 4 to 13 in Panchkula, Ambala, Shahabad, Chandigarh and Delhi.
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur during the launch of the logo, song, jersey and mascot of Khelo India Youth Games 2021 at Indradhanush Auditorium in Panchkula said that with the share of only two percent in the total population of the country, Haryana has won most of the sports competitions in the country. Has won the most medals.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala, Sports Minister Sandeep Singh were also present in this program.
Haryana Chief Minister said that Haryana is not only producing food grains for the country, but is also earning medals through its sportspersons.
Five traditional sports will be part of Youth Games: Anurag
Emphasizing on the preservation of traditional sports, the Sports Minister said that five traditional sports (Gatka, Kalaripayattu, Thang-Ta, Mallakhamb and Yogasan) will be part of the upcoming Khelo India Youth Games.
The Youth Games and the recently concluded University Games under Khelo India will surely inspire the youth to achieve bigger goals in future.
Thakur said, the day is not far from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Young India when India will be among the top ten in Olympic Games.
Jaya and Vijay will be the mascots:
The black deer named ‘Jaya’ and the tiger named ‘Vijay’ are the mascots of Khelo India Youth Games. The mascot of Haryana for Khelo India Youth Games is named Dhakad. Dhaakad, the mascot of the fourth edition, reached the stage threatening the tractor.
The jersey was launched by Minister of State Sandeep Singh along with ten medal winning players including Manu Bhaker.
The logo was unveiled by the Chief Minister and Union Sports Minister Anurag by pressing the button. As the theme song rang, the whole auditorium reverberated.
