American billionaire Todd Boehly-led conglomerate Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday bought Chelsea Football Club from Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
It is believed that this club has been bought for 2.5 billion pounds (23 thousand 739 crore rupees). Apart from this, 1.75 billion pounds (Rs 16 thousand 617 crore) will be invested in the team and stadium to improve the club. Overall, this deal has been done for about 40 thousand 357 crores.
The FIFA Club World Cup-winning club had been with Abramovich for 19 years, but Abramovich decided to sell the Premier League club after sanctions imposed in Britain following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
After a process of almost two months, the deal for the sale of the club has been reached which is likely to be completed by the end of the month. The club’s current license expires on May 31 and the deal was announced just three weeks before that.
Chelsea wrote on their website, “Chelsea Football Club confirms that the conditions for handing over ownership of the club to a group led by Todd Boehli, Clearlake Capital, Mark Walter and Hansjörg Wies have been finalised.

Todd Boehley has stakes in two teams in the NBA, the American basketball league. Men’s team Los Angeles Lakers and women’s team Los Angeles Sparks.
At the same time, he also has a stake in a team in the baseball league MLB, named Los Angeles Dodgers.
Since Abramovich bought Chelsea Football Club in 2003, Chelsea have won the English Football Championship five times, the English Cup three times, and the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League twice.
