Chennai Super Kings vs Delhi Capitals (CSKvDC): The 55th match of IPL 2022 will be played between CSK vs DC, the match will start at 07:30 PM IST on 08 May 2022 at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai, India
Team winner Prediction:
Key Points:
- DC has not won two consecutive matches in IPL 2022 so far
- CSK has won two out of three matches it has played at the DY Patil Stadium
- DC’s bowling attack is better than CSK’s and its leading batters are also in good form
CSK vs DC Analysis:
Chennai Super Kings are all but out of the running for an IPL 2022 playoff spot and will need to win almost every single game from here on to have a chance. It has been a wretched season for CSK so far with just three wins from ten matches, as a result of which the team sits 9th in the league standings.
CSK will be taking on the Delhi Capitals in this match, a team that has failed to win two consecutive matches in IPL 2022 so far. Five wins and five losses from ten matches show that DC has been following the perfect cadence of one win, one loss so far.
In 5th position on the league standings, DC has a chance to move up to third if it can win this match.
The IPL betting sites are making DC the favorite to win this match by a small m margin. Let us see if that gives us some betting opportunities to take advantage of.

Date: 08 May, 2022
Time: 07:30 PM (IST)
Venue: DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai, India
Live Streaming: Disney+ Hotstar
TV: Star Sports Network
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The conditions at the DY Patil Stadium have been very batting-friendly in most matches. There also seems to be a bit of dew that helps the chasing team and makes bowling more difficult for the spinners during the second stint. The average first inning score has been 167.5 but the average first inning winning score has been 184.5.
This shows that the par score is somewhere around 175-180 batting first and anything lesser will leave the chasing team at an advantage.
Team Preview:
Chennai Super Kings (CSK):
CSK will be happy playing against DC at the DY Patil Stadium. It has won two out of the three matches it has played at that venue and will have at least some good memories from that. The team, though, needs a lot of work to be done before it can be considered a top T20 team once more.
We like the fact that both Devon Conway and Moeen Ali are back in the lineup for CSK. That could match up well against the left-arm heavy bowling lineup that DC has. Conway has two consecutive fifties to his name and could be one batter that you can back in this match.
Robin Uthappa, Amabati Rayadu, and Ravindra Jadeja will form the middle order with Doni and Pretorius coming in to finish off at the end. We could see some changes and Dwayne Bravo being brought back or even Jadeja being rested if he has a slight niggle from the injury he picked up in the previous match.
CSK’s batting is strong but it needs almost everything to come off since they lack the explosiveness at the end.
The bowling attack for CSK has been a big disappointment as well. Not having Deepak Chahar available is a massive blow as Mukesh Chaudhary or SImranjeet Singh are nowhere close to being called able replacements. Jadeja has also had a rough time with the ball in IPL 2022 and Pretorius is quite smackable during the death overs as well.
That leaves Moeen Ali and M Theekshana to carry the bowling lineup for CSK. There is not too much help for the spinners at the DY Patil Stadium and that could make life a bit difficult for the CSK spinners.
Likely XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Dwayne Pretorious/Dwayne Bravo, Simarjeet Singh/Shivam Dube, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary

Delhi Capitals (DC):
DC played what pant described as almost the perfect game with the bat in their previous match. David Warner continued his incredible form and showed just how big a steal he was for DC with 92 not out while Rovman Powell also seems to have hit form in his last couple of outings.
Both these players propelled DC beyond 200 and helped them get a crucial win.
There are some problems in the batting lineup, though.
DC is likely to be without Prithvi Shaw and Axar Patel for this next match as well. Mandeep Singh looked lost during the few deliveries he faced and Axar Patel has been adding much-needed depth to the lineup. Without them, the opening partnership is vulnerable and there is one all-rounder lesser to bail DC out if needed.
Mitchell Marsh has shown promise but struggled and Pant has not yet come up with a big inning either. Lalit Yadav and Ripal Patel are not going to give CSK any nightmares and so DC’s batting is certainly one that can crumble with a couple of early wickets.
The bowling attack was rejigged in the previous match by DC. They brought back Khaleel Ahmed and Anrich Nortje and also relied on Mitchell Marsh to bowl his full quota of overs. Khaleel was exceptional and Nortje breathed fire but Shardul Thakur, Mitchell Marsh, and Kuldeep Yadav all looked quite hittable.
Maybe Rishab Pant should explore giving Rovman Powell some bowling as well.
DC’s bowling lineup could struggle if it does not get the early wickets. We saw how badly they were put to the sword by Markram and Pooran in the previous match and Pant was left scrambling to hide his three weak bowlers towards the end.
Likely XI: David Warner, Mandeep Singh/Yash Dhull, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel Shardul Thakur, Anrich Nortje, Kuldeep Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed
