A mother’s struggle and stubbornness enabled her disabled son to win a medal in Para Athletics. Doctors had told the handicapped son unable to stand on his feet and speak, but Sunita of village Chowki Janwala of Hamirpur development block did not lose courage.
All possible treatment was done for the son. Wandered in dozens of hospitals. Took treatment and consultation from hundreds of doctors. It was heard from most of the doctors that your son will not be able to walk and speak.
Finally after the treatment of a doctor in Chandigarh, the son started acting. Along with the treatment, the mother’s determination further improved the son.
After taking medicines and taking care of the mother, the son stood on his feet and is now a national level para runner. Son Divyang was born after Sunita’s pre-mature delivery.
He could neither walk nor speak. When the son was three years old, Sunita’s husband died. Due to this a mountain of sorrows broke on him.
After the death of her husband, she went to every hospital, every clinic, taking a pledge to cure her son, and finally made the son a para-runner by making him stand on his feet.
Sunita says that her son is 20 years old and she does not stay away from him even for a moment. At the time of his birth, he was only 700 grams, he was insistent that he would make his child stand on his feet.
After this stubbornness, determination and struggle, the son is now a para runner and a student of BA 2nd year. Sunita said that she goes to every competition with her son and encourages him.
The son is also working hard due to the mother’s struggle and love and has won a bronze medal in the National Para Athletics Championship held from May 4 to 7 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi.
He has also participated in two state, one national level competition in Para Athletics. Sunita is working as LVDC in Development Block Office Hamirpur.
