The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has started the process of removing encroachments from May 4 i.e. from today till May 13. Shaheen Bagh area is also included in the areas of South Delhi where SDMC can take anti-encroachment action.
Action started from Karni Singh Shooting Range:
The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has started the action of bulldozer. The team of the corporation first arrived today to remove the illegal encroachment done at Karni Singh Shooting Range and carried out the action.
Corporation wrote a letter to the police:
The Deputy Chairman of the corporation Rajpal Singh said that the SDMC has written a letter to the DCPs of South and South East Delhi, seeking protection for its anti-encroachment drive.
Writing a letter to the police, the corporation has demanded security arrangements for its anti-encroachment action. It is known that SDMC wanted to take this action from April 24, for which he had written a letter to the police even then.
However, at that time the police had refused to provide security citing the security personnel were engaged in law and order. Along with this, the police had said that the corporation should inform the police about such action 10 days in advance so that proper arrangements can be made for the security personnel.
