Foreign Minister Liz Truss is ahead of former finance minister Rishi Sunak in the race to replace Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Britain. This information comes out in a new survey of members of the governing Conservative Party. A survey of Tory members found that 58% expressed confidence in the truss.
Former finance minister Rishi Sunak got the support of only 26 percent of Tory members in this survey, while the remaining 12 percent remained undecided. This is the second poll in which a cabinet minister has been shown to have an edge over a former Indian-origin minister.
Earlier YouGov survey showed that truss was ahead in different parts of the country across all age groups. Overall, Rishi Sunak needs a big game-changer for this contest to continue if Tory members’ findings and YouGov’s survey are correct.
At the moment there seems to be difficulties in this. The new findings come at a time when another former candidate, Sajid Javid, jolted Rishi Sunak by supporting Truss in the race for his agenda.
