0 CWG 2022: On the 8th day, India won 3 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze in wrestling, Manika Batra and women’s hockey team lost

The eighth day of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games brought a rain of medals for India. Wrestling started on the eighth day and many of India’s legendary athletes came on the mat to play in it.

Indian fans were expecting medals on Friday, but not only medals came, but medals rained. India won a total of six medals in wrestling including three gold, one and two bronze on Friday. Bajrang showed power, won gold:

India’s veteran wrestler Bajrang Punia has won the second consecutive gold medal in the Commonwealth Games. He defeated Lachlan McNeill of Canada 9-2 in the freestyle 65kg category. This was India’s first gold medal in wrestling in Birmingham. After this there was a flurry of gold. Bajrang had earlier also won gold in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. Sakshi Malik created history:

Sakshi Malik created history in Commonwealth Games. He won the gold medal for the first time. Sakshi defeated Anna Godinez Gonzalez of Canada in the freestyle 62kg category. Anshu Malik won silver medal:

Indian wrestler Anshu Malik had to be content with a silver medal in the freestyle 57kg category. She was defeated 7-3 by Odanayo Folasado of Nigeria in the final.
