0 Panipat: PM Modi to launch online 2G ethanol plant at refinery today

Now farmers in Panipat district of Haryana will not need to burn stubble, but it will become their source of income. This will be possible with the 2G ethanol plant being started in the refinery, which will be launched online by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.

It is to be known that in the newly constructed 2G ethanol plant in the refinery, ethanol will be made from stubble itself. The Agriculture Department will set up Custom Hiring Centers (CHCs) across the district to buy stubble. It is through them that the straw will be purchased from the farmers’ fields. The bales of stubble will be made and sent to the collection center.

Of these, one collection center will be set up at the site of village Badauli and Ganjbad and another at the site of village Asan Kalan. On Tuesday, Deputy Director of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Dr. Wazir Singh along with Assistant Agriculture Engineer Sudhir Kumar and Block Agriculture Officer Sewa Singh inspected both the sites.

The plant has been built in the refinery with 900 crores:

A plant to make ethanol from stubble is ready at Panipat Refinery. It has cost Rs 900 crore to build it. The capacity of this plant is to produce 100 kilo liters of ethanol per day. The Agriculture Department is also ready to provide stubble to this plant.

The state and central government have been making continuous efforts for the last several years to prevent air pollution due to stubble burning. In this series, huge grants are also being given to the farmers for setting up of CHCs and personal agricultural machines for crop residue management.

Only Panipat produces 3.80 lakh tonnes of stubble:

Dr. Wazir Singh informed that large quantity of paddy is produced in Karnal, Kurukshetra and Kaithal including Panipat. In such a situation, the management of stubble is a big challenge. Panipat alone produces 3.80 lakh tonnes of straw per year.

He informed that baler machines are available at 30 CHCs in the district and there are three individual balers. After purchasing the stubble from the farmers by all these, it will be sent to the collection center, from where the bales of stubble will be easily transported to the ethanol plant.
