A delicate ceasefire agreement was reached on Monday to end nearly three days of fighting between Israel and Palestine militants in Gaza. After this the violence has ended here. The ceasefire came into force at around 11:30 pm after Egyptian mediation.
It was the worst clash between Israel and Gaza militants since last year’s 11-day fighting between Israel and Hamas. Israel carried out several air strikes in the area for minutes before the ceasefire came into force. Israel said it would react strongly if the ceasefire was violated.
Israel launched strikes in Gaza on Friday while the Iranian-backed Palestinian jihadist group fired hundreds of rockets at it in retaliation. The militant group that governs Gaza, Hamas, appeared to shy away from the conflict. Israel killed two top commanders of the jihadist group.
27 Gaza civilians and 24 terrorists killed in air strikes:
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has said that 51 people were killed in Gaza, including 24 affiliated with the jihadist terror group, in recent rounds of fighting between Israel and Gaza-based militants. The Times of Israel reported that the army figures are approximate.
According to the IDF, 27 civilians of Gaza, including many children, have also been killed in this fighting. Spokesman Ran Kochav said most Gazas were also killed in attacks from Palestine. The military said that in the Gaza Strip, terrorists fired 1,100 rockets towards Israel, of which 200 rockets fell in the Gaza Strip area.
