India has started the Zimbabwe tour in a grand style. He won the first match of the three-match series on Thursday (August 18) by 10 wickets. Team India’s 13th consecutive win in ODIs against Zimbabwe. India has not lost against this team since June 3, 2010.
The last defeat was at Harare Sports Club in Harare. Then Zimbabwe won the match by seven wickets. Since then India has defeated the hosts 10 times at this ground. At the same time, have defeated twice in Bulawayo and once in Auckland (New Zealand).
In the match, India captain KL Rahul won the toss and decided to bowl. His decision proved to be correct. The bowlers of the team performed well, bowling Zimbabwe out for 189 runs in 40.3 overs. In reply, Team India won the match by scoring 192 runs in 30.5 overs without any loss. With this win, the Indian team is ahead 1-0 in the series. The second match will be played at this ground on June 20.
India’s victory was dominated by vice-captain Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Deepak Chahar, Prashant Krishna and Axar Patel. Dhawan and Gill shared a century partnership. In the last four matches, both of them shared a century partnership thrice.
Earlier, in the three-match ODI series on the West Indies tour, both had added more than 100 runs twice. Gill remained unbeaten on 82 and Dhawan 81. At the same time, Deepak Chahar, Prishidh Krishna and Axar Patel took three wickets each. Chahar was adjudged player of the match.
Chahar shines on his comeback, sent to the top-order pavilion:
Deepak Chahar, who returned to the team after about six months, did the first over for the team. In the first few overs, Chahar’s bowling did not show the edge for which he is known. Some of his balls were getting right and some of the lines were deviated. Gradually Chahar returned to his old color. He sent Innocent Kaya in the seventh over and T. Marumani to the pavilion in the ninth over.
Kaya was dismissed for four and Marumani scored eight. Both were caught by Chahar at the hands of wicketkeeper Samson. Mohammad Siraj took the third wicket of Zimbabwe. He got Sean Williams (one) caught by Dhawan. After Siraj, Chahar took another wicket. He dealt a big blow to Zimbabwe in the 11th over by dismissing Wesley Madhevere lbw. In this way, four wickets fell for 31 runs for the hosts in 10.1 overs.

After Chahar and Siraj, it was now Akshar and the famous Krishna. On the first ball of the 17th over, Krishna caught Sikandar Raza (12 runs) at the hands of Dhawan. In the 21st over, Ryan Burle (11 runs) was caught by Shubman Gill on his own ball.

Chasing the target of 190 runs, Team India got off to a great start. Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan batted fiercely here as well as in the West Indies. Both did not give any chance to the Zimbabwe bowlers. Initially Dhawan was playing fast. He scored the first half-century from Gill. He slowed down after scoring a half-century.
Meanwhile, Gill’s half-century was completed. After hitting fifty, he started batting fast. Dhawan scored his 38th and Gill scored his third half-century. Both of them made an unbeaten partnership of 192 runs to give the team an easy victory.
