The US is considering sending indigenously made fighter aircraft to help Ukraine in the ongoing war for the last five months. This is expected to intensify the corrosion. Due to this war, many crises have arisen all over the world. The most important problem is the food supply. However, in this direction, a big agreement has been reached between the two countries in UN mediation on Friday.
However, a White House spokesman has clarified that this step will not be taken immediately. The US and NATO countries are already helping Ukraine indirectly. Now considering to increase the power of Ukraine by sending fighter planes made in America.
At present, the possibility of sending US-made fighter aircraft is being explored. If America allows this, then Russia may be more upset with it. In this war, both Russia and Ukraine have suffered heavy losses so far. Although Russia has captured many cities in Ukraine, the end of the war is not in sight.
Russia and Ukraine sign big deal for global food crisis:
The good news came on Friday, amid five months of war, that Russia and Ukraine have reached a UN-mediated agreement to continue unabated grain exports from the Black Sea after 150 days. With this deal, Russia will no longer stop grain-laden ships leaving Ukraine’s ports. It is believed that after this the growing food crisis in the world can be avoided.
The agreement between the two countries was signed at Dolmabach Palace in Turkey. United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Tayyip Rajab Erdoan were also present in the meeting. Guterres said after the meeting that the deal has opened the way for the export of food items from Ukraine. With this, developing countries can be pulled out of food and economic crisis.
Why was the export halted till now?
Significantly, the war between Russia and Ukraine has been going on since February this year. Russia has captured many important bases of Ukraine. These include many important places related to the Black Sea.
Apart from this, Russia has either captured or continues to attack many important ports of Ukraine. In such a situation, the export of food grains from Ukraine has been banned for about five months. To end this deadlock, the UN and Turkey have insisted on starting talks between Russia-Ukraine.
How is the Russia-Ukraine crisis affecting the whole world?
Due to the impasse caused by Russia, food inflation has been recorded all over the world. The Food Price Index of the International Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), which tracks food prices across the world, reached its all-time high in March itself. This tracker was started only in 1990. That is, in the entire 32 years, the prices of food items were the highest recorded.
Both countries provide 24 percent wheat to the world:
Russia and Ukraine are powerhouses in terms of grain exports. These two countries meet 24 percent of the world’s wheat requirements. Not only this, Russia-Ukraine also fulfills 57 percent of the world’s sunflower oil requirement.
According to UN Comtrade, these two countries were also responsible for 14 percent of the world’s maize exports from 2016 to 2020. But Russia-Ukraine have been lagging behind in exports since the start of the war, and many countries have faced shortages of these food items.
