The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority on Sunday made a big announcement regarding the retail prices of 84 essential medicines. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has done the retail price of drugs in exercise of the powers conferred by the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has also issued a notification in this regard.
In this notification, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has said that the medicines for which the retail price has been fixed are medicines related to sugar, headache and high blood pressure. Apart from this, the prices of formulations used to reduce elevated cholesterol and triglycerides have also been fixed.
The notification issued by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority said that a tablet of voglibose and metformin hydrochloride will cost Rs 10.47. It does not include GST. Similarly, the price of Paracetamol and Caffeine has been fixed at Rs 2.88 per tablet.
Similarly, the cost of one rosuvastatin aspirin and clopidogrel capsule has been kept at Rs 13.91. At the same time, in another notification, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority has informed that the revised maximum price of liquid medical oxygen and oxygen inhalation (medicinal gas) has been increased till 30 September this year.
The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority fixes or revises the prices of regulated bulk drugs and formulations in the country.
