The 27-year-old Chaudhary finished the race in 8:57.19 seconds on Saturday night to finish third. Steeplechase expert Parul Choudhary has broken the record of Surya Loganathan, who completed 3000 meters in 9 minutes 04.5 seconds. Surya had set this record six years ago.
In this race, Parul Chaudhary was trailing in the beginning, but in the last two laps he picked up the pace and won a medal for the country. The 3000 meters is a non-Olympic event in which Indian athletes do not usually participate.
