IAF MiG Crash: A MiG-21 fighter plane of the Indian Air Force crashed near Barmer, Rajasthan. There were two pilots in the plane and both the pilots were martyred in this tragic accident. As soon as the MiG plane fell, it caught fire and it started burning with smoke.
The Indian Air Force said that both the pilots of the MiG-21 trainer aircraft lost their lives in this accident. The Indian Air Force deeply regrets the loss of their lives and stands firmly with the bereaved families. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.
Rajnath talks to Air Force Chief:
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Indian Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Choudhary on the crash of MiG-21 fighter aircraft in Barmer. The Air Chief briefed him about the incident in detail. Apart from this, through a tweet, he also expressed his condolences to the two air warriors who lost their lives in the crash of IAF’s MiG-21 trainer aircraft near Barmer, Rajasthan. The Defense Minister also said that his service to the nation will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief.
IAF did not reveal the names of the martyred pilots:
Here, the Indian Air Force has not yet given the names of both the pilots. The MiG-21 has been the mainstay of the Indian Air Force for a long time. However, the aircraft’s safety record is very poor. In March last, Minister of State for Defense Ajay Bhat, while giving information in the Rajya Sabha, had said that 42 Army personnel have lost their lives in accidents of aircraft and helicopters of the three services in the last five years. He also informed that the total number of air accidents in the last five years was 45, out of which 29 cases were related to the IAF.
