Looks like Maruti Suzuki is on a launch spree with another model next month. This time around, it is the Alto hatchback in its latest form that is being prepared for the market. Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the new generation Alto, which will be sold under the Maruti Suzuki Arena brand. The carmaker recently discontinued the existing K10 and 800cc Alto models, to clear the way for the launch of the new generation model of Alto and one of the oldest players from Maruti Suzuki.
Maruti is expected to launch both the K10 and 800cc models of the Alto. However, it is not yet known whether Maruti will launch both the models together or separately. In these new cars too, Maruti can offer the same engine that is used in other cars of the Arena model such as the new generation Celerio, WagonR and S-Presso.
Talking about the look and design, Maruti can make some changes in the new generation Alto. As already revealed from the spy images that surfaced during a commercial shoot of the new Alto. The popular hatchback will be slightly influenced by the design of the new Celerio. In fact, the rear spy shots reveal that the new Alto seems to be a smaller version of the Celerio with a more rounded design language.
The new generation Alto will get steel wheels, body-coloured door handles and black ORVMs along with spy shots. Maruti may also introduce a new color shade. Perhaps the colors found in the Celerio will also be found in the new Alto.
The new generation Maruti Suzuki Alto is expected to get the same reliable 800cc petrol engine as well as the 1.0-litre DualJet petrol unit used in the Celerio. The small engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox is expected to generate maximum power of 47 bhp and peak torque of 69 Nm. While the new K10C engine will get peak power of 66 bhp and peak torque of 89 Nm. The new Alto K10 will also get a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, an automatic transmission can also be found in it. A CNG version of the new generation Alto is also expected to hit the market later.
