0 India vs Ghana: Indian women’s hockey team beat Ghana 5-0 in the first match in Birmingham

The Indian women’s hockey team has made a great start in the Commonwealth Games. He trampled Ghana 5–0 in their first match. Gurjit Kaur scored the highest two goals for Team India. Neha Goel, Sangeeta Kumari and Salima Tete also scored. Now the Indian women’s team will go into their second group match against Wales on Saturday (July 30).

Gurjit Kaur gave India the lead in the first quarter. He scored a brilliant goal on the penalty corner. Team India got only one goal in the first quarter. He made several attacks in a row, but the Ghana team remained firmly in front of the goalpost. He kept India from scoring more than one goal. India got the second goal in the second quarter.

Neha scored the second goal:

Ghana tried to counterattack in the second quarter. He made many attacks. Indian captain and goalkeeper Savita Poonia saved three consecutive goals. Meanwhile, Team India got a chance and got success. India did a brilliant counter attack. Neha Goel, standing close to the goalpost, hit the ball towards the goalpost. The ball hit the Ghanaian’s hockey stick and went inside the goalpost. India got the second goal and it was recorded in Neha’s name.

India scored two goals in the third quarter and one goal in the fourth:

India’s Sangeeta Kumari scored the third goal for the team. He put the ball into the goalpost, dodging the Ghanaian goalkeeper. After Sangeeta, Gurjeet also scored. This is his second goal in the match. Salima Tete scored the fifth goal for India.

Indian team needs improvement:

Team India still has to work in many areas. If goalkeeper Savita Poonia had not stood firm, then Ghana’s team could also have scored more than four goals. At the same time, the Indian players looked weak in the penalty corner. In 11 penalty corners, the team could only score one goal. The Indian team management will have to work on this further.
