India defeated West Indies by 68 runs in the first match of the five-match T20I series. With this win, Team India has taken a 1-0 lead in the series. Batting first after losing the toss, India scored 190 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma played an innings of 64 runs. At the same time, Dinesh Karthik remained unbeaten on 41 runs in 19 balls. He was also adjudged the player of the match for this innings.
In reply, the West Indies team could only manage 122 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Shamrah Brooks scored the most runs for West Indies. He played an innings of 20 runs. Arshdeep Singh, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravi Bishnoi bowled lethally for India. All three took two wickets each. Smith could not even open the account. Arshdeep Singh clean bowled Akil Hussain on a brilliant yorker. He could only score 11 runs. In the end, Keemo Paul remained unbeaten on 19 runs in 22 balls and Alzarri Joseph scored five runs. Windies team could only score 122 runs. Apart from Arshdeep, Ashwin and Bishnoi, Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar took one wicket each for India.
