The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has expressed its support for hosting the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in India later this year. The tournament will be held from October 11 to 30 in three cities namely Bhubaneswar, Goa and Mumbai.
All India Football Federation (AIFF) acting general secretary Sunando Dhar said, “We are very grateful for the government’s support. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports under the guidance of Anurag Thakur has been proactive in hosting this tournament and this move of the Union Cabinet reflects the same positive spirit.
“With the help and encouragement from all our stakeholders, we are definitely ready to host a wonderful tournament,” he added.
