An Revised Letter of Agreement (ALOA) has been signed in the field of Narcotics Control and Law Enforcement Cooperation between India and the US. The US State Department said, the third meeting of the India-US Counter-Narcotics Working Group was signed in New Delhi on July 7-8.
NCB Director General Satya Narayan Pradhan led the Indian delegation and Camp Chester, Senior Advisor to the Director of National Drug Control Policy at the White House, led the US delegation, a joint statement issued by the US State Department said.
According to the statement, representatives of relevant agencies responsible for law enforcement, policy making, drug demand reduction and other drug-related matters discussed a wide range of issues related to cooperation on drug demand, drug trafficking and criminal investigations- discussed. In the meeting, the two sides also discussed law enforcement coordination, regulatory matters and opportunities for bilateral cooperation in multilateral fora.
Consensus on many issues:
India and the US also agreed to cooperate to cover the issues of drug demand reduction and combat unregulated chemicals diverted by drug trafficking networks under the umbrella of the Anti-Drug Working Group. The two sides also discussed closer cooperation on information-sharing and capacity building in combating drug trafficking and related crimes.
