0 The status of SP decreased at the national level, may be out of the Rajya Sabha committee

The status of SP has decreased at the national level. The number of members in the Legislative Assembly has increased, but from the Rajya Sabha to the Legislative Council, its power has decreased.

In such a situation, there is a danger of being out of the Rajya Sabha committee, then the post of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council may also have to be lost. This will increase the challenges before the party in national politics. In this context also Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha by-elections are important.

In the assembly elections, the number of SP MLAs has increased from 47 to 111. If allies are added, this number has increased to 125, but the position of the party in the Legislative Council has been steadily weakening. The SP had 17 MLCs left after losing 33 seats in the authority constituency elections.

By May 26, the term of six members ended. At the same time, the term of six other members will end on July 6. In such a situation, if four newly selected members are added, then after July 6, the total number will be nine.

According to the rules, 10 MLCs are necessary to maintain the post of Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council. At present, Lal Bihari Yadav is on the post of Leader of Opposition. In such a situation, the post of Leader of Opposition is in the headlines in the politics of the state.

The SP has five members in the Rajya Sabha. The terms of three of them are ending in July. In their place, the party has sent three new members to the Rajya Sabha, but only one member’s name will be added to its account. Because Kapil Sibal is an independent member, Jayant Chaudhary is from Rashtriya Lok Dal. In such a situation, in the Rajya Sabha, Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav, Jaya Bachchan and Javed Ali will represent the SP.

Experts say that after nearly two and a half decades, the SP has become so weak in the Rajya Sabha. Similarly, in the Lok Sabha, SP Patron Mulayam Singh Yadav, Shafiqur Rahman and Dr. ST Hasan are members.

At present there are only six members in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. In such a situation, there is also a discussion that there may be a crisis on the party’s recognition of the party. In this context, Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha by-elections are important.

On the other hand the National General Secretary Prof. Ramgopal is the chairman of the Health and Family Welfare Committee of the Rajya Sabha. The committee has got a separate office and staff. There is a cloud of crisis in the Speaker’s post when the number of members in the Rajya Sabha is less than five.

This post can be taken away after the presidential election. Because the party with more members than the SP will have a claim on the president’s post. On this, senior journalist Arvind Kumar Singh says that in order to maintain the status at the national level, SP will have to increase the number of members in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
