Maharashtra has again topped the medal tally at the ongoing Khelo India Youth Games here on Saturday with a total of four gold medals in tennis, table tennis and swimming. Maharashtra has a total of 100 medals including 37 Gold, 34 Silver and 29 Bronze. Haryana at number two has a total of 108 medals including 36 gold, 33 silver and 39 bronze. Karnataka is at the third position with 21 gold medals.
Haryana did not get any gold medal for the first time:
This is the first time during the Games that began on June 4, that Haryana players could not win a gold medal. However, Haryana is just one gold medal behind Maharashtra. Haryana hopes to win maximum medals in boxing.
Rushil of Uttar Pradesh played despite injury, won silver medal in tennis:
Akanksha of Maharashtra defeated Sunita of Karnataka 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 6-4 in the final of Tennis Girls category. In the boys’ final, Rushil Khosla of Uttar Pradesh lost to Dhruv Vikram Hirpara of Gujarat 6-4, 7-5. However, Rushil was injured. He also needed medical attention twice during the match. Despite this, he fought for the title. He had to be content with the silver medal.
Adil of Srinagar won the gold medal:
Adil Altaf of Srinagar won the gold medal in the individual road race with a timing of 1:59:22.86. Siddhesh Patil of Maharashtra came second.
Apeksha won gold with a record:
In 200m medley swimming, Fernandez won the gold medal with a record time of 2 minutes 25.18 seconds as compared to Maharashtra. In the girls’ 70 km road race, Muskan of Maharashtra won the gold medal, while Kerala’s Sneha won silver and Ladakh’s Leekjes Angmo won bronze.
