Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati held a press conference in the capital Lucknow on Saturday. During this, Mayawati attacked the BSP for not being invited to the opposition meeting regarding the presidential election.
Mayawati said that we were kept separate by the government and the opposition. The conspiracy of the opposition was seen in the presidential election. We want to make it clear that our party has decided to extend its support to Draupadi Murmu for the presidency, considering the tribal society as a special part of its movement.
He said that our decision is neither in support of BJP or NDA nor against the opposition. Keeping in mind our party and movement, we are in favor of making a capable and hardworking woman of a tribal society the President of the country.
Mayawati said that Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had called on 15 June to select an opposition candidate for the presidential election and invited only selected parties. Also when Sharad Pawar called a meeting on 21 June, the BSP was not invited either. This reflects their racist motives.
