Spanish club Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1–0 in the final of the UEFA Champions League. Real’s Vinicius Junior scored the only goal in the match in the match played in the French capital Paris late Saturday. Real’s team has become champion for the 14th time.
At the same time, Liverpool have to face defeat in the final for the fourth time. He was last defeated by Real in 2018 as well. Real’s team has not lost the final even once since 1981. During this, he won the title eight times.
Vinicius may have given Real victory by scoring a goal, but the real hero of the match was the team’s goalkeeper Thibo Cortva. He saved nine goals. For the first time in a Champions League final, a goalkeeper has saved so many goals. Kourtva saved eight goals in the pre-quarterfinals against Paris Saint-Germain and eight in the semi-finals against Manchester City.
Real manager Carlo Anzolotti was also surprised to see his performance. He said after the match, “I can’t believe what Corteva did.” Real had earlier won the La Liga title in Spain. On the other hand, Liverpool’s team, which missed out on winning the Premier League in England, did not become champions in the Champions League either.

Real Madrid beat the big teams in the knockouts. Real players, considered relatively weak, have worked wonders this season. He defeated Paris Saint-Germain, a team comprising Lionel Messi, Neymar Jr and Kylian Mbappe, in the pre-quarterfinals. He then knocked out defending champions Chelsea in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, they defeated the title contenders Manchester City.
Then defeated 2019 champions Liverpool in the final. Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma also expressed happiness and tweeted after Real Madrid won the final. Rohit Sharma is a fan of this team.
Carlo Anzolotti created history-
Real Madrid manager Carlo Anzolotti has created history. He became the manager to win the Champions League the most times. He won the title with AC Milan in 2002–03 and 2006–07. He then won the trophy with Real in 2013-14 and 2021-22.
What happened in the second half:
- Real Madrid beat Liverpool 1-0 to win the match. The team has become the champion after 2018. He beat Liverpool last time as well.
- In the 82nd minute, Mohamed Salah and Thibo Kourtwa were once again face to face. Salah was close to scoring, but Kourtva disappointed him once again. In this match for Real, Kortva has saved the goal for the eighth time.
- Mohamed Salah once again came close to scoring in the 63rd minute, but Real goalkeeper Thibo Kourtva stopped the ball from going into the goalpost.
- Real Madrid youth player Vinicius Junior scored the first goal of the match in the 59th minute. Dani Carvahl’s pass was pushed by Fedrico Valverde towards Vinicius. Vinicius scored without any fault.
- The second half of the game has started. In the 47th minute, Trent Alexandre Arnold attacked Real Madrid and passed the ball to Luis Diaz. Diaz could not put him in the goalpost.
What happened in the first half:
- The score was 0-0 till halftime. Liverpool made five shots on the target for the goal. At the same time, Real’s team could keep only one shot on the target. Liverpool’s team was ahead in terms of possession as well. It held 52 per cent and Real Madrid held 48 per cent.
- Real Madrid’s team missed the goal in the 43rd minute. Karim Benzema hits the ball over the goalpost, but is declared off-side. Liverpool goalkeeper Alison Baker made a mistake. Benzema took advantage of that mistake, but the goal was not recognized.
- Real attacked for the first time in the match in the 36th minute. Vinicius Jr. came close to scoring, but Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson hit the ball off the ground.
- In the 34th minute, Trent Alexander Arnold gave a brilliant pass to Mohamed Salah in the box, but Salah could not put it into the goalpost. Once between him and the goalpost, Real’s goalkeeper Thibo Kourtva came. Kortva catches the ball easily.
- In the 21st minute, a brilliant shot from Sadio Mane was stopped by Kourtva from going into the goalpost. He stopped Liverpool from taking the lead.
- Star player Mohamed Salah missed the goal in the 16th minute. Salah could not send the ball to the goalpost on Trent Alexander Arnold’s pass. Real’s goalkeeper Thibo Cortva made a brilliant defense.
Match started half an hour late:
The match started half an hour late. Thousands of fans were stranded outside the stadium. The start time of the first match was extended by 15 minutes. After some time another 15 minutes were added to it. The match started at 1:00 pm Indian time. UEFA said in its official statement – the match will be delayed due to security reasons.
UEFA stunned once again:
This is not the first time that UEFA has been embroiled in a title match of a major tournament. Prior to last year’s Euro Cup final, hundreds of fans entered Wembley Stadium without tickets. Then the father of England defender Harry Maguire was reportedly injured in the crowd and broke his rib.
Legendary players came to watch the match:
Spain’s legendary tennis player Rafael Nadal arrived to watch the match. Apart from them, former Real Madrid manager and former France captain Zinedine Zidane, Spain’s former goalkeeper Iker Cassias, Brazilian football great Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos also arrived.
