Mumbai Indians vs Kolkata Knight Riders (MIvKKR): The 56th match of IPL 2022 will be played between MI vs KKR, the match will start at 07:30 PM IST on 09 May 2022 at DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai, India
Team winner Prediction:
Key Points:
- MI has finally settled on its best playing eleven and is reaping the benefits
- KKR has problems with its batting, its bowling lineup, and basically everything apart from Andre Russell’s form
- MI has a stronger batting lineup and with two wins on the trot, it will be full of confidence as well
MI vs KKR Analysis:
The Mumbai Indians have won their previous two matches and are suddenly the favorites at most IPL betting sites to win this match as well. This next match for MI is going to be against the Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR has slipped down to 9th in the standings and could end up finishing with the wooden spoon if they are not careful.
KKR’s chances of making it into the IPL 2022 playoffs seem very slim at this point in time and it will need an extraordinary turnaround to be able to get back to winning ways consistently.
9th vs 10th in the IPL 2022 League table is probably not the highest stakes match, however, both these two teams have a passionate following that will watch this match closely.

Date: 09 May, 2022
Time: 07:30 PM (IST)
Venue: DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai, India
Live Streaming: Disney+ Hotstar
TV: Star Sports Network
Pitch and Weather Conditions:
The conditions at the DY Patil Stadium have been good for batting in most matches. With so many matches being played, it is normal that a bit of spin will start to appear, and that balances the contest a bit. For the most part, though, dew, short boundaries, and good carry in the pitch all tilt things in favor of the batters.
A score of around 170 should be seen as par.
Team Preview:
Mumbai Indians (MI):
MI has won its previous two matches and both of them had excellent innings played by Tim David at the end. MI dropping one of the most in-form T20 players in the world after just two matches will remain one of the big mysteries of IPL 2022.
Still, we think MI has got its batting order right and with Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, and Tilak Varma all scoring runs, the top-order looks pretty strong right now. The big question is going to be over Kieron Pollard.
Ideally, MI should drop Pollard and maybe bring back Brevis but that is unlikely to happen.
MI’s bowling is on the weaker side and Jasprit Bumrah, their trump card, continues to struggle this season. He has been expensive, is missing his lengths, and is also not being able to pick wickets like he needs to. Daniel Sams and Riley Meredith bailed out MI in the previous match with some astonishing death bowling.
Murugan Ashwin also ended up with pretty good figures although the combination of Ashwin and Karthikeya as the leading spinners for MI is quite weak.
Likely XI: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Kieron Pollard, Tim David, Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, Kumar Kartikeya/Basil Thampi, Jasprit Bumrah, Riley Meredith

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR):
KKR was absolutely smashed by LSG in its previous outing and this was despite having got KL Rahul for a golden duck. KKR’s auction strategy was horrendous and it seems to have been left with a squad that it itself does not have any trust in.
A look at the playing eleven for KKR in its previous match shows that this is a team whose batting is misfiring and bowling is also very weak. Baba Inderjith, Aaron Finch, Rinku Singh, Anukul Roy, Shivam Mavi, and Harshit Rana (No disrespect to any of them) would struggle to make it into any other IPL team at the moment.
KKR’s strategy seems to be to leave everything to Andre Russell and hope that he comes up with miracles every time. The fact that Russell is having one of his best IPL seasons in a very long time as an all-rounder has still not been able to help KKR pick up wins.
Shreyas Iyer and Sunil Narine are also world-class but Iyer seems to have been found out a bit by the short ball and Narine is defended by most teams to minimize the damage.
Things are looking grim for KKR and they are worst team of IPL 2022 in our opinion.
Likely XI: Aaron Finch, Venkatesh Iyer/Ajinkya Rahane, Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana, Sheldon Jackson/Baba Indrajith (wk), Andre Russell, Aman Khan/Anukul Roy, Sunil Narine, Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav/Harshit Rana, Shivam Mavi
