IPL 2022: GT vs RCB

Gujarat Titans vs Royal Challenges Bangalore (GTvRCB): The 43th match of IPL 2022 will be played between GT vs RCB, the match will start at 03:30 PM IST on 30 April 2022 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, India

Team winner Prediction:

51%
GT
49%
RCB

Key Points:

  • Gujarat Titans sit at the top of the IPL 2022 standings with seven wins from eight matches
  • RCB has lost its previous two matches and is struggling with its top order
  • RCB’s bowling lineup is quite strong and we think Josh Hazelwood could help it pull off an upset in this match

GT vs RCB Analysis:

The Gujarat Titans have won seven out of their eight matches so far and are probably just a couple of wins away from sealing their place in the IPL 2022 playoffs. At least three of their wins have come from positions that they had no business winning from, though, and you wonder how long they can sustain this run.

Up against them in this next is Royal Challengers Bangalore, a team that has lost its previous two matches and seems to be just stumbling a bit. RCB has won five out of the nine matches it has played and is right in the middle of the table. Another loss could see it tumbling down the standings very quickly.

All of the IPL betting sites are giving the Gujarat Titans slightly shorter odds, making them the favorites. Match prediction and IPL betting tips for GT vs RCB IPL 2022.

Match 43- GT vs RCB

Date: 30 April, 2022
Time: 07:30 PM (IST)
Venue: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, India
Live Streaming: Disney+ Hotstar
TV: Star Sports Network

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

The conditions in Brabourne have generally been very good for batting but this was also the same venue where RCB was bowled out for 68 against SRH. The Gujarat Titans will certainly be hoping to open up some wounds with their fast bowlers.

There is a little bit of help for the fast bowlers with some nice pace and bounce to work with. The batsmen can also score freely after getting set. We think a high-scoring match is likely since both teams have players that like the ball coming on to the bat.

Something around 160-170 should be seen as par.

Team Preview:

Gujarat Titans (GT):

The Gujarat Titans are currently playing beyond the sum of their parts! Their team does not seem to be as well-stacked as some of the others but that has not stopped them from topping the table and showing a fearless fighting spirit. The question, as bettors, you need to ask is whether this can continue?

The addition of Wriddhiman Saha to the top of the order has allowed Gujarat Titans to play with an additional bowler, a must now that Hardik Pandya is not bowling. Saha top-scored in the previous match but we have seen him struggle to score consistently in the past after getting one or two good scores.

We would not advise betting on him. Crucially, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya have taken a bit of a backseat in the run-scoring department. David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Abhinav Manohar, and Rashid Khan have all contributed to a number of wins for the Gujarat Titans.

Some of the wins from such positions that it seemed almost impossible and we are wondering if this luck is going to run out. The Gujarat Titans could struggle against a decent bowling team like RCB.

The bowling attack for the Gujarat Titans themselves is quite good. Alzarri Joseph, Rashid Khan, and Lockie Ferguson are world-class overseas picks while Mohammad Shami is also having one of his best-ever IPL seasons.

Current form is something that is going for the Gujarat Titans but we are a bit uncomfortable paying a premium for them against RCB.

Likely XI: Shubman Gill, Wriddhiman Saha (w), Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Abhinav Manohar, Lockie Ferguson, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Mohammed Shami.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):

RCB suffered a second massive defeat in a row and its batting looks to be in shambles right now. Virat Kohli is going through his worst phase and is struggling to hit the ball off the square. His inning of 9 against the Rajasthan Royals was tortured and it looked like his bat only had edges!

We are going to stay away from betting on him because the betting sites do not adjust his betting markets even after repeated failures. A comeback could be around the corner but the markets have not adjusted enough to bet on Kohli right now.

Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell will have to do the bulk of the run-scoring with Dinesh Karthik finishing off games down the order. We would not mind betting on Maxwell to score some runs in this match as we think the match-ups favor him. The same is true for Faf du Plessis as well.

Still, RCB’s batting lineup is quite jittery and that is where the biggest risk of backing them is going to lie.

RCB’s bowling, though, is excellent. Leading the way has been Josh Hazelwood. We think he could be an excellent option to bet on to pick 2+ wickets or even for the Top Bowler RCB betting market. Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, and Mohammad Siraj all round out a very strong bowling lineup.

This is a bowling attack that can win RCB games and also take the pressure off the struggling batting unit.

Likely XI: Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Suyash Prabhudessai, Shahbaz Ahmed, Dinesh Karthik, Wanidu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood.
