IPL 2022: DC vs LSG

Delhi Capitals vs Lucknow Super Giants (DCvLSG): The 45th match of IPL 2022 will be played between DC vs LSG, the match will start at 03:30 PM IST on 01 May 2022 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India

Team winner Prediction:

52%
DC
48%
LSG

Key Points:

  • With six wins our of nine matches played, Lucknow Super Giants have momentum with them and coming off a win in their last outing, they will be brimming with confidence
  • Despite plenty of experience available right throughout, Delhi Capitals have struggled to take decisions on merit, at least in their last few matches
  • Delhi Capitals are a little too over-reliant on their opening pair of Prithvi Shaw and David Warner to get them off to a quick start

DC vs LSG Analysis:

An IPL season without the regular captain of a team changing is incomplete. We have seen that happen regularly over the last few years and the same is going to happen when CSK takes field in their next game with Ravi Jadeja handing the leadership back to MS Dhoni. The tournament looks well set with most teams still in contention to not only get a playoff spot but also to finish among the top two sides.

The next match in the tournament is to be played between Lucknow Super Kings and Delhi Capitals, a match that would pretty much govern the fate of the two sides. Both sides are well in it to get to the next round but a loss here is something that both things sides would not want to even think of.

Match Details:

Match 45- DC vs LSG

Date: 01 May, 2022
Time: 03:30 PM (IST)
Venue: Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, India
Live Streaming: Disney+ Hotstar
TV: Star Sports Network

Pitch and Weather Conditions:

The pitch on offer at the Wankhede Stadium is always full of runs. You get an even bounce on the wicket and it is likely to remain true for the entire duration of the match. The short boundaries make scoring runs even easier for the batters. Another significant aspect is the due factor in Mumbai. Due to this reason alone, many teams are likely to opt for fielding first after winning the toss. The outfield on offer at the Wankhede Stadium is extremely fast and you can pretty much expect high-scoring games at this venue.

Team Preview:

Delhi Capitals (DC):

With the kind of top-order that they have, Delhi Capitals were one of the most fearsome side to walk into the tournament. Not that they no longer carry that tag, their performance certainly does not go hand in hand with the kind of reputation their batsmen come with. They still have six matches to go but that number might not sound enough if they are not able to register a win in this upcoming match.

As it currently stands on the points table, Delhi Capitals are placed at the sixth spot with eight points in as many games. They have followed the trajectory of lose-one, win-one from their last six matches and will want to impart some consistency to what has do far been a lackluster campaign for them.

Not only on the field have they bottled, the decision taken by the management and the skipper at times have been questionable. Consequently, they have a poor net run rate as well and would want to improve that too as it can prove to be a crucial difference in the back-end of the competition.

Having said all that, not everything is gloomy for the Capitals. Their opening pair, of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw has been as good as any in the tournament so far. They both are quick to get off the blocks and can take the game away in a matter of minutes. Also, they have a decent batting unit with the likes of Axar Patel and Shadul Thakur available to bat a seven and eight respectively. They would, however, need it find a better way to utilise Rovman Powell, whose big hitting skills have so far stayed hidden from the competition at large. Going by the way they have done, they would need to do everything right in this upcoming match. If they are able to do that though, getting past them is going to be an immensely difficult job.

Likely XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (c/wk), Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya/Khaleel Ahmed

Please check the team once when Playing XI Announced.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG):

Lucknow Super Giants can consider lucky to be floating in the top half of the points table, especially with the kind of outing they had in their last evening. They lost momentum after a decent start, to an extent that KL Rahul was fuming at the end of the first innings. Their bowlers, however, had other ideas as they managed to restrict Punjab Kings with considerable ease.

Lucknow Super Giants are in a superb position as at the points table and another win here will push them a lot closer to not only securing a playoff spot but also to the occupation of the two two. Besides, their decent net run rate of 0.41 is going to only help them should things get tight towards the back end of the match.

Likely XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), KL Rahul (c), Deepak Hooda, Krunal Pandya, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Jason Holder, Dushmantha Chameera, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, Ravi Bishnoi

Please check the team once when Playing XI Announced.
