Not many would have imagined Sunrisers Hyderabad to play like they have after the kind of auction they had and more so after their first two matches. They have been terrific ever since and are now pretty close to reserving a slot in the playoffs. The same pretty much holds true for Gujarat Lions as well, who too would be targeting a top-two finish now.
Up next in the tournament are Gujarat Titans set to take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in what is a much-anticipated contest at the top of the tables. Both these sides have impressed one and all and should make up for a cracker of a contest.

As far as the pitch goes, the pitches in Mumbai have had some grass on them to just keep them together and allow for high-scoring matches. The same should be the case this time around although, the underlying nature of the surface means that the spinners have something to work with as well.

Many eyebrows were raised when Gujarat Titans announced their retention, even more so post the auction. They way they have played up until now, however, has just been brilliant and the results are there to tell the story. They are mighty close to a playoff spot in their maiden season and that is exactly what they will be looking to achieve in their next two matches.
The Titans may not be at the top of the table at the moment, but they have undoubtedly been the best side of the tournament. They have taken one less game than the table-toppers to rack up 12 points and have a decent net run rate as well. Another win here will put them in an excellent position to not just qualify for the playoffs but also actually end up occupying the top two places.
Gujarat Titans had a questionable playing eleven initially but almost everyone has justified their spot respectively. Having said that, their bowling still is a stronger suit and batsmen will do well to score big against an in-form bowling unit of Sunrisers Hyderabad. If they are able to do that, they will certainly be in business big time.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH):
Sunrisers Hyderabad once used to be the bowling powerhouse team of the IPL and after having a couple of quiet seasons with the ball, they are back to their best. Although they have had a bit of luck going for them with Williamson winning the toss on most occasions, one cannot disregard the skills they have shown on the field.
Consequent to the way they have played, Sunrisers Hyderabad are placed at the third spot, behind only Rajasthan Royals and Gujarat Titans. Having said that, there isn’t a lot to separate the three sides and this match could prove to be a big moment in the context of the tournament, especially because there is a big incentive to finish among the top two sides.
On paper, Sunrisers Hyderabad have bowling as their stronger suite but their batsmen too have contributed well. However, they are yet to be tested while batting first. The likes of Umran Malik, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, and T Natarajan have all been brilliant and the absence of Rashid Khan hasn’t really been felt, at least up until now.
Given the way things have panned out thus far, Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking at their bowlers to provide them yet another position to dictate terms. They are a very capable side that has more often than not punched above its weight. If they can do it again, getting past them is going to be incredibly difficult.
