The Football World Cup is to be played in Qatar from 21 November this year. This time the first match is to be played between Netherlands and Senegal. The first match could be between hosts Qatar and Ecuador.
This Group A match between Qatar and Ecuador is the third match of the tournament as per the schedule. According to tradition, the first match of the FIFA World Cup is played by the host team or the defending champion team. In such a situation, if the schedule does not change, then this tradition will be broken. The final decision on this will be made by the Bureau of the FIFA Council. This includes six confederation presidents and FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
In the World Cup to be held in Qatar in November-December this year, 32 teams are participating, which are divided into four groups of eight. Lionel Messi’s Argentina has been placed in Group-C and Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal team has been placed in Group-H last.
Hosts Qatar are in Group A. Brazil, which has won the World Cup the most five times, has been placed in Group G along with Croatia, Morocco and Canada. The England team present in Group B will take on Iran in their first match. It will be the first time since 1982 that England will face an Asian team in the FIFA World Cup.
Earlier in 1982, the English team had faced Kuwait. Then Kuwait defeated them. The England team would like to forget that old memory and start afresh. England’s team will face Iran for the first time in the FIFA World Cup. 2010 World Cup champions Spain and four-time world champions Germany are placed in the same group (Group-E).
