0 Wimbledon 2022: Novak Djokovic became Wimbledon champion for the 7th time after defeating Kyrgios in the final

Serbia’s legendary tennis player Novak Djokovic has won Wimbledon Open for the seventh time. He defeated Nick Kyrgios of Australia in the men’s singles final on Sunday (July 10) in a four-set match. Djokovic won the match 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). He won the 21st Grand Slam title of his career. Djokovic has reached second place in terms of winning the most Grand Slams.

Djokovic moved up to second place for the most Wimbledon wins in the Open Era (since 1968). Next to him is Roger Federer of Switzerland. Federer has won eight Wimbledons. He last won this title in 2017. Djokovic equaled Pete Sampras of America by becoming the champion for the seventh time. In the Amateur Era (before 1968) Britain’s William Renshaw won seven titles.

  • Set 1: Kyrgios won the first set 6-4 to take the lead.
  • Set 2: In the second set, Djokovic made a brilliant comeback to win 6-3.
  • Set 3: The third set saw a tough fight between the two players, but Djokovic won it 6-4.
  • Set 4: Nick Kyrgios made a brilliant comeback in this set and troubled Djokovic for a long time. Despite this, he could not maintain his rhythm. Djokovic made a comeback in the last moments to level the first set at 6-6. He then won the tie 7-3 to win the set 7-6 (7-3).

  • She defeated Kwon Soon Woo of South Korea 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the first round.
  • In the second round, he defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis of Australia 6-1, 6-4, 6-2.
  • In the third round, he defeated Miomir Keshmanovic of Serbia 6-0, 6-3, 6-4.
  • In the fourth round, he defeated Tim van Rijtoven of the Netherlands 6-2, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.
