Marie Bojkova of the Czech Republic defeated Caroline Garcia of France in her last 16 match on Sunday to reach the quarter-finals. In a match that lasted one hour and 23 minutes, Marie defeated Garcia 7-5, 6-2. Nadal beat 27th seed Lorenzo Sonego of Italy 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. Nadal did not like Sonego’s loud shouting during the match. For this, he had called Sonego near the net. Although showing high sportsmanship after the match, Nadal said that I was wrong, I should not have done it.
In the third round, Nick Kyrgios defeated fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece 6-7, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 in a match that lasted three hours and 17 minutes. During the match there was also a heated exchange between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas. Kyrgios expressed displeasure with the umpire over Tsitsipas’ behaviour. He even called the umpire dumb.
