Former British Chancellor Rishi Sunak has staked claim to replace Boris Johnson as the Prime Minister of Britain. Starting his campaign, he said in a social media video that one has to understand the urgency of the occasion and take the right decision.
The resignation of ministers in protest against Johnson started on Tuesday with Rishi Sunak, the former Finance Minister of Indian origin. Sunak’s wife Akshata Murthy is the daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayan Murthy. Sunak had also been in controversies a few days ago because of his wife.
Earlier, while resigning, Sunak had said that the public expects the government to work properly and seriously. Our perspectives are fundamentally different. I agree that this may be my last ministerial job, but I believe these are issues worth fighting for and that is why I am resigning. I am sorry to leave the government, but I have reluctantly come to the conclusion that we cannot proceed like this.
British PM Johnson will not give wedding party at official residence:
Meanwhile, Britain’s acting Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife are planning to relocate their wedding party. An aide of the prime minister denied on Friday that he was planning to throw a long stop and leave party at 10 Downing Street, the official residence, because of his executive role.
Earlier it was reported that Prime Minister Johnson had said before resigning that he wanted to stay at his official residence for a few more months, as he planned to throw a grand party later this month to celebrate his wedding. . The prime minister’s aide said on condition of anonymity, “It is wrong to think that Boris Johnson wants to continue his acting PM role because of the party’s plans to give up.” The party will no longer be held at the official residence.
