Germany has entered the semi-finals of the Women’s European Championship Football for the 10th time. The eight-time winning team defeated Austria 2–0 in the quarter-finals. For Germany, Leanne Mughul scored in the 25th minute and Alexandra Pop scored in the 89th minute.
Austria also made several attempts to score, but could not penetrate the German defense. On July 28, Germany will face the winner of the match between the Netherlands and France in the semi-finals.
Germany, which has won the most eight titles, had earlier entered the semi-finals in 2013. In 2017, Germany’s team could only reach the quarter-finals. Germany has entered the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time since winning the Olympic gold medal in 2016.
The German team has previously played in the semi-finals in 1989, 1991, 1993, 1995, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013. Germany won the title whenever they entered the semi-finals except in 1993. In the semi-finals of 1993, Germany lost to Italy.
