At the same time, a 16-year-old boy killed his mother in Lucknow. Experts consider these incidents to be the main reason for violent behavior among children and adolescents due to the use of online games, social media and hours of internet.
- Studies show that three out of 10 children who are active on social media suffer from depression, fear, anxiety along with irritability. Some do not feel like studying, some are unable to even eat food without a phone.
- According to Bangalore-based National Institute of Mental Inspection and Neuroscience (NIMHANS), 73% of children in the country are mobile users. Of these, 30% suffer from psychosis.
- Dr. Yatan Pal Singh, Psychiatrist, AIIMS, New Delhi says, 15 to 16 children come to him for counseling in a month, out of which up to 90% are with moderate and chronic condition. That is, the symptoms are visible like the third or fourth stage.

Cases of cyber bullying are coming in Delhi AIIMS operated clinics every Saturday. Most of them are college girls. According to the Online Study and Internet Addiction study, more than 50% of cyberbullying cases go unreported because girls are unable to share their problems and gradually start suffering from depression.
From here the concern of children starts:
Worried about not being tagged on the social platform, being removed from the WhatsApp group, not increasing the likes or shares on the post.
Checking the phone frequently. Seeing others’ posts on social media and trust this world.
Ask yourself this question…
- Spending hours on online video sites?
- You don’t feel like studying or doing any work?
- Quickly lose patience. Do you get angry over talk?
- If the answer is yes, then be careful.
