Like the corona virus, monkeypox is also changing its symptoms. According to the latest report of the prestigious research journal Lancet, extensive wounds have been found in the private parts of monkeypox patients in Britain. These are different from the symptoms of monkeypox found in the world in the past.
This information has been given in a research report published on Saturday in The Lancet Infectious Disease Journal. Researchers have prepared this report on the basis of 54 patients who arrived at various sexual health clinics in London. These patients were treated for monkeypox over the course of 12 days in May this year.
sores appeared around the genital and anus:
The research said that the patients included in this group of patients showed sores on the skin around the genital and anus. Compared to monkeypox patients in the previous study, these patients showed less symptoms such as fatigue and fever. Researchers collected data on monkeypox patients from four sexual health clinics in London. They have prepared this report based on the study of patient’s travel history, sexual contact information, symptoms and treatment data.
Cases of sexual infection may increase:
Based on the above findings, the researchers suggested that possible symptoms of the disease should be reviewed to identify monkeypox patients. They also speculate that monkeypox patients may have an increased number of genital skin lesions and this may lead to an increased number of sexually transmitted infections. This means that sexual health centers or sexual health clinics may see more cases of monkeypox in the future. Researchers have also suggested arranging additional resources to deal with these situations.
Cases are increasing in many countries including Britain:
Nicolo Girometti of the UK’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has said that there is a rapid increase in cases of monkeypox among patients visiting sex clinics in many countries including the UK. It has no direct relation to countries where the disease is spreading as an endemic (local level).
