MP Mahua Moitra is upset with TMC sidelining her remarks over the controversy over the poster of the documentary film ‘Kaali’. He got angry and unfollowed the Twitter handle of his own party.
Moitra had said on Tuesday that Kali has many forms. To me Kali means the goddess who accepts meat and wine. When a controversy arose over this statement, the ruling Mamata Banerjee’s party in West Bengal had distanced herself from it. Moitra is now said to be angry with TMC about this. However, Moitra has maintained contact with CM Mamata Banerjee’s Twitter handle. She is following him.
Moitra, a Lok Sabha member from Bengal’s Krishnanagar, is often in the news for her statements, but this time the matter is stuck. Maa Kaali is a very sensitive issue for West Bengal. TMC can be harmed by objectionable rhetoric about him, so as soon as Mahua commented on the poster of the said film in a news channel program, Trinamool Congress immediately shrugged off him.
The controversial documentary film ‘Kaali’ is produced by Leena Manimekalai. The film got embroiled in controversy as soon as its poster was released. In this poster, Maa Kali was shown smoking a cigarette. A colorful flag of the LGBT community was also seen in one of his hands.
MP Moitra had said during the discussion, ‘It depends on you how you see your God. If you go to Bhutan and Sikkim, whiskey is offered to God in worship there. At the same time, if you give whiskey to someone in Uttar Pradesh, then his feeling can be hurt. For me Goddess Kali is in the form of a meat-eater and a wine-drinker. Goddess Kali has many forms.’
Trinamool condemned, said – personal views
On Moitra’s statement, Trinamool Congress said that these are her personal views. The party does not support these and strongly condemns such comments. However, after TMC expressed displeasure, Mahua Moitra also clarified by tweeting.
After this controversy on Tuesday, he said, ‘The lies of all you Sanghis cannot prove you a better Hindu. I have never endorsed any film or poster or mentioned the word smoking anywhere. I suggest you visit my mother Kali at Tarapith to see what food and drink is offered to her as bhog. Jai Maa Tara.
