0 Agneepath Scheme: Hearing in Supreme Court on petitions against Agneepath scheme today

The petitions challenging the new recruitment scheme ‘Agneepath’ of the Army brought by the Central Government will be heard in the Supreme Court today. News agency ANI has given this information.

According to media reports, the bench of Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice Surya Kant and Justice AS Bopanna will hear the petition challenging the new recruitment scheme. The apex court had agreed to hear the petitions earlier this month itself. But a bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and JK Maheshwari said the petitions against the recruitment scheme would be listed before an appropriate bench when the apex court reopens after the summer vacation.

Three petitions filed in Supreme Court against Agneepath scheme:

Three petitions have been filed in the Supreme Court against the Agneepath scheme. In which there has been a demand to stop this plan for the time being. The petitioners have also demanded that the scheme should not be implemented on those who are in the process of getting army jobs.

Center also filed caveat application in Supreme Court:

The Center has also sought to hear the government’s side on the petitions challenging the ‘Agneepath’ recruitment scheme for defense forces by filing a caveat application in the Supreme Court on June 21. It has been appealed that no order should be passed without hearing his side. Explain that a caveat application is filed by a plaintiff to ensure that no adverse order is passed against him without hearing his side. The PIL seeking quashing of the Centre’s notification was filed by advocate ML Sharma, contending that the scheme was illegal and unconstitutional.

Recruitment process continues under Agneepath scheme:

Under the Agneepath scheme, the recruitment process in the Army started from July 1, while in the Air Force on June 24 and in the Navy from June 25. Candidates between 17.5 years to 21 years will be able to join this recruitment. However, the age limit for this year has been increased to 23 years. This recruitment will be for four years. After this, 25 percent of the personnel will be enrolled back to the regular cadre on the basis of performance.
