0 Udaipur incident’s connection to Kanpur: Dawat-e-Islami organization has more than 50,000 followers in the city

The connection of the accused, who killed Kanhaiyalal in Udaipur, is being linked to Kanpur after posting a post of support of Nupur Sharma, suspended from BJP, on social media.

According to Udaipur DGP ML Lather, the killers Riyaz Attari, resident of Bhilwara and Mohammad Ghaus of Udaipur, told during interrogation that they are associated with Pakistan-based Dawat-e-Islami organization, which has more than 50,000 followers in Kanpur.

It is being investigated whether both of them had come to Kanpur before the incident. The name of this organization also came up during the CAA ruckus in the city in 2019. He had also funded in the name of the organization by putting boxes in many areas of the city. The police has started searching for the members of the organization operating in the city.

CP called emergency meeting:

Police Commissioner Vijay Singh Meena called an emergency meeting with the subordinates for investigation and action of the Dawat-e-Islami organization as soon as he got the input from Udaipur. Created a city security plan. Instructions were given to increase police guard on sensitive areas. Intelligence and IB have also been alerted.

During the CAA ruckus, instructions have been given to trace the people associated with this organization who came under the scanner. Their numbers will be put on surveillance. The CP told after the meeting that a team of police is continuously monitoring every activity going on on social media. If anyone posted a controversial post, strict action would be taken against him.

Police eye on mixed population:

High alert has also been declared in Kanpur after the incident. On Wednesday, a heavy police force was deployed around the Chandreshwar gate. Police have increased the vigil in areas like Gwaltoli, Parade, Macharia, Babupurwa, Moolganj, Jajmau, Prem Nagar, Beconganj, Colonelganj etc. with mixed population. Route marches were also conducted in the areas.
