0 India vs Leicestershire: India’s score 246/8 on the First Day Stumps

The entire team India has started preparing for the Test match against England starting from July 1. The practice match between the Indian team and Leicestershire started on Thursday (June 23) before the Test match.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. India scored 246 for eight on the first day. Barring wicketkeeper Srikar Bharat, none of the batsmen could survive. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli got out after a good start. At the end of the day’s play, Bharat 70 and Mohammed Shami are unbeaten on 18.

Virat Kohli 33, Rohit Sharma 25 and Shubman Gill got out after scoring 21 runs. Shreyas Iyer could not open the account. Ravindra Jadeja got out for 13 and Hanuma Vihari scored three runs. Roman Walker took the highest five-wicket haul for Leicestershire.

Interestingly, four India players Cheteshwar Pujara, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant and the famous Krishna are playing in the Leicestershire squad for practice.

Indian openers did not work:

Shubman Gill made 21 runs off 28 balls and was caught by Davis on Rishabh Pant. He shared a 35-run partnership for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma in 9.2 overs. India got the second blow in the form of Rohit Sharma. Rohit Sharma returned to the pavilion when the team’s score was 50 runs in 15.2 overs. Rohit got out on the ball of Roman Walker. He scored 25 runs in 47 balls.

Hanuma and Iyer also fail:

Hanuma Vihari, who came out to bat at the third order, got out after scoring three runs in 23 balls. Sam Bates took his catch off Roman Walker’s ball. Shreyas Iyer was also out after Hanuma. His account didn’t even open. Rishabh Pant took his catch off the famous Krishna ball.

Jadeja didn’t even bat:

India got the fifth blow in the form of Ravindra Jadeja. Jadeja was dismissed for 13 runs off 13 balls. He hit two fours in his innings. Roman Walker made Jadeja lbw. Half of India’s team returned to the pavilion for 81 runs.

Kohli argues with umpire:

India got the sixth blow in the form of Virat Kohli. Virat became lbw off the ball of Roman Walker. He scored 33 runs off 69 balls. During his innings, Kohli hit four fours and a six. Kohli was visible in his complexion but missed to play Walker’s delivery.

After a loud appeal, the umpire gave Virat out lbw. On this Kohli got angry and clashed with the umpire. The umpire gave the reason for giving him out. After that he returned to the pavilion. Kohli shared a half-century partnership for the sixth wicket with KS Bharat.

Umesh supported Bharat:

Team India’s seventh blow in the form of Shardul Thakur. He was bowled by Shardul Walker after scoring seven runs. Walker has taken five wickets in this innings. Team India got the eighth blow in the form of Umesh Yadav. Umesh was dismissed for 23 off 32 balls by Will Davis. He shared a 66-run partnership with Bharat for the eighth wicket. Umesh hit four fours in his innings.

Why are Indian players playing for Leicestershire?

Four players from India have been included in the team of Leicestershire for this reason so that all Indian players can get full opportunity to practice. If all the players of Team India played from the same team, then some would have got less batting or bowling.

To avoid this situation, four players from India have been put in the opposition team. This will give ample opportunity to all the players to practice. Among the four players who have been included in the Leicestershire squad, the famous Krishna is suspected to have played in the main match. Apart from him, the other three players are almost certain to play the first Test match from July 1.

Both teams for the first practice match:

Leicestershire squad: Samuel Evans (capt), Rehan Ahmed, Samuel Bates (wk), Nathan Boley, Will Davis, Joy Evison, Louis Kimber, Abidin Sakande, Roman Walker, Cheteshwar Pujara, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, Prashidh Krishna.

Indian Squad: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Hanuma Vihari, Srikar Bharat (Wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, Mohammad Siraj, Umesh Yadav.
