0 Archery World Cup: Abhishek-Jyoti ensured the second medal for the country in the Archery World Cup

Indian archers Abhishek Verma and Jyothi Surekha Vennam sealed their second medal for the country as they advanced to the final of the World Cup stage three here on Friday.

The trio of Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhagat and Simranjit Kaur had secured their first medal by reaching the finals of the recurve women’s team event on Thursday. The compound mixed pair of Verma and Jyothi defeated Estonia’s Robin Jatma and Lisel Jatma 156-151 in a one-sided match of the semi-finals.

After receiving a bye in the last-16, the third-seeded Indian pair began their campaign in the pre-quarterfinals by beating Puerto Rico by an impressive eight-point margin (158-150). The Indian pair faced a tough challenge from El Salvador’s Roberto Hernandez and Sofia Page in the last-eight. Won in the shoot-off after the final score 155–155 (19–19).

Indian recurve mixed pair of Tarundeep Rai and Ankita Bhagat, however, suffered a shoot-off loss to lower-ranked side Kazakhstan in their first round match.
